With the help of a star tape, you can treat different pain points quickly and easily. With this technique, four tapes are placed on top of each other in a star shape, exactly over the point of pain. The skin is lifted and maximum space is created in the centre of the tape, thus relieving the painful spot. All skin receptors in the area are continuously stimulated. Circulation improves and pain decreases. Depending on the area of application, the tapes are used in normal (5 cm) or half-width (2.5 cm).
This technique deliberately creates wrinkles in the tape. With this application, it is very important that you keep the right stretching direction of the tape. The first strip of tape must always run in the problem area, or over the structure to be treated that is causing the complaint.
How to tape a painful hip
Tips for a good hip taping application:
- Is the cause of the complaint or pain clear?
- Check if there any contraindications for not taping.
- Before you start taping, carefully read the instructions.
- Choose a colour of tape, any colour that fits your mood!
- Round of all the edges to prevent peeling.
- Do not stretch the tape at the beginning and the end.
- Rub the tape well for adhesion. Heat activates the adhesive layer.
- Showering or swimming is possible, pat the tape dry after it gets wet. Do not rub it hard.
- It is easier to remove the tape with body or massage oil.

Shape:I-Tape.
Number of strips: 4.
Technique: ligament technique (maximum/full stretch).
Measuring and cutting the tape
Step 1:
- Sit in such a way that you can easily treat the point of pain. If the pain point is in the back, you should ask someone for help.
- Measure the desired length of the tape and cut the tape approx. 5 cm shorter than what you measured. The tape automatically lengthens due to the maximum stretch that you will use on the middle part.
Applying the tape
Step 1:
Step 2:
Step 3:
Step 4:
Step 5:
- Bring the pain point into a stretched starting position.
- Tear the release paper from the first tape in the middle, and fold the paper to the right and left. Then bring the middle section to maximum stretch by pulling the tape apart.
- Now carefully place the first strip of tape, with maximum stretch, on the point of pain, gently press the tape and then apply the two anchor ends without stretching. Rub the tape well so that it adheres better.
- Apply the second tape in the same way, at right angles over the first tape to form a cross.
- Place tape number three and four diagonally across the center of the first two tapes.
